Would be nice to have an easy to see speed indicator of the current game speed.

one game I play has three speeds and displays the along the top of their toolbar as:

Makes it very easy to see.

You can see the game speed at the top left of the screen. The pointer in the game speed meter indicates the current speed.

Thanks .... That helps somewhat! Didn't realize it was an active icon.
Also, I guess I never noticed it since many times it is hidden by other windows.
Still would be nice to have have an indicator that is in "always on top" mode though.
