I hope they're able to modify their cool corporate font rather than replacing it (as was done for the names on this screen). I think it's one of the best things about the game.

The game currently can only read text file in extended ASCII codes. http://www.ascii-code.com/

You may try using the following text editor for editing translate.txt. The editor is supposed to support extended ASCII codes:

For editing my translate.txt, i use notepad ++.
It is possible to set the encoding of the file "encoding":

We did test Notepad+ but unfortunately we couldn't find an encoding option that worked for CapLab.

which version of notepad++ did you use?

i followed the steps on creating a translate file, but the changes wont show up. tried the latest beta patch.

I use notepad++ 6.3, but you can use the classic notepad windows. I use notepad++ for ANSI encoding necessary for accents in French.
You've probably missed something with the location of translate.txt.

ah, okay, got it working. looks like there are some restrictions david wanted us to find out
first, the translation is case sensitive.
second, some strings seem to be untranslatable, like the ones directly in the main menu.
tried to translate SINGLE PLAYER GAME or Single Player Game and it didnt show up.
