Types of Taxes
For Corporations
Profit Tax: this is a tax on the profit made
(Operating Profit + Received Dividends - Loan interest) x Tax rate
And maybe, with deduction of losses:
(Operating Profit + Received Dividends - Loan interest - Loss of prior years) x Tax rate
Capital Gains Tax: this is a tax on the profit made from selling stocks
Stocks of your corporation and stocks of other companies you buy and sell. You should be taxed when the gain is realizable. So, when you sell the stocks.
(Selling Price - Average Cost) x Tax rate
Real Estate Tax: a tax on the value of the lands and buildings
Land/Building value at 1 January x Tax rate
Real Property Gain Tax: tax on the gain from the sale of land and buildings
(Selling Price - Purchase Cost) x Tax rate
Ecotax/Greentax: if you own factories
Number of Factories x Fee
Natural Resources Consumption Tax: if you have natural resource firms
Number of Firms x Fee
Tariff: import duty on goods
Cost of good x rate
For Individuals/Persons
Dividend Tax: personal income tax on received dividends
Received Dividends x Tax rate
Withholding tax: this is a tax on your salary
Annual salary x Tax rate
Perhaps all taxes should be deducted automatically.
Or they could add more dynamic to the game by adding “Taxes Payable” to the Balance Sheet. Taxes Payable is a liability account that reports the amount of taxes you owe. It increases each year automatically and decreases when you pay your taxes. And if IRS find out that you are not paying your taxes………………………
The possibilities are endless. This game has a lot of potential!!!!

I have moved this topic to the Suggestions for City Simulation Features forum, as it belongs to the development scope of City Simulation enhancement where you may assume the role of mayor and set tax policies.

I like it better without the mayor.David wrote:I have moved this topic to the Suggestions for City Simulation Features forum, as it belongs to the development scope of City Simulation enhancement where you may assume the role of mayor and set tax policies.

Re: Types of Taxes
From the perspective of mayor, taxes are revenues.
From the perspective of corporations, taxes are deductions.
I guess when it comes to taxes, it will be more fun to play as a mayor.

Tax deduction adds a touch of reality to the game.

Re: Types of Taxes
Taxes in game would really make fine touch on reality
I just hope they would be implemented to the game as it currently is rather than city simulation.
I would also suggest another type of taxes, but I guess you haven't mentioned them because they are perhaps difficult to implement:
1. Sales Tax (for US and Australian cities if I am correct)
2. Value Added Tax - VAT (for most other countries, isn't that right???)
Is it even technically feasible to add these taxes to the game?

Re: Types of Taxes
Sales Tax / VAT is tax paid by the final consumer. The company/seller collects the tax from the consumer and remits it to the government.nemanjanv7 wrote:Taxes in game would really make fine touch on reality

Re: Types of Taxes
Simple taxes system would add some flavor to the game.
The only tax I would add for gameplay is import tariff, a different rate for each city/country, that could change through time, and even be influenced by lobbying (a new HQ unit ?).
Enough with chinese low cost stuff ? Invest money to pressure the congress to raise tariff to 50% !
This could be added to the game as it is now.

I think the money from tax must invent to the new item in the game, or just like rise up the population, rise down the unemployment rate.

Re: Types of Taxes
I think a combination of tariff, sales, cap gain, and profit taxes would introduce another excellent level of management decisions. Tariffs make it harder to manufacture and export, cap gains would eliminate some of the 'day trading' for easy cash, and sales taxes would make some cities worse to retail in than others while having loss-deductible profit tax can make planned and managed losses beneficial, creating incentives to burst spend and find creative ways to game the system.
